The tongue port bar gives the horse‘s tongue enough room because of the flattened area on the port. Many horses respond to this with improved suppleness and increased chewing. And yet this bit is also well suited to horses that play with their tongues, trying to put the tongue over the bit, as the port effectively prevents this. Therefore this bit is eminently suitable for horses that do not tolerate pressure on the tongue from conventionally shaped bits and react with head-tossing and the like.
